Current Status of Software

I've been working on the next release of the dndTree and dndList. The dndTree should come out first and then the dndList. You will be able to drag and drop from one to the other. You will also be able to drag movieclips onto the dnd components. I've also aimed this release at getting rid of those little things that take away from the best user experience.

drag manager

I've just had a feature request to be able to drag and drop a movieclip onto a dndList based component. Before the dndList component came out (about a month ago) drag and drop was restricted strictly to the component it's self or another instance on the stage. Before dndList you could drag and drop a tree item over another tree item but not to a movie clip such as trashcan symbol. As of dndList you could drag and drop list items onto a movieclip. Now I've been asked to make it possible to drag and drop a movieclip onto a dnd component and drag multiple objects at the same time. After considering all of this I decided to create a drag manager class. I've got a prototype class working. I still have to tie everything together and that could be another month. I plan to give it away free with any of dnd components.

HTML Overlay component

I'm getting ready to release a product I call HTML Overlay or HO for short. With the HO you can finally use raw HTML in your Flash projects. I've had the desire to use Flash for a content management system but Flash doesn't have a very good rich text area for end users to design and format text. There are some cool htmlareas for HTML out there that already allow a user to design and format text the way I like. My HO will allow me to do this. So I plan to use the HO extensively to mix HTML and Flash whenever I need to without doing backflips. I've created 4 examples to help. This is the first project I'm doing that will be using the Helpbook program to generate the Helpbook, APIdocs and MXI files on the fly.

News update

I've been getting ready to release the dndList component. It's pretty neat seeing things come together and just seeing my work work the way I've envisioned it.
I've been putting some finishing touches on dndTree version 2. That should be out in about a month. Soon after I'll be putting dndGrid together. I estimate about a month or two on that. I'm putting a lot of examples into the next releases. My assumptions have been correct about what people are asking for and I think if I include the examples they need right in the package it will be more valuable to them (and less support for me). Speaking of which, I don't mind supporting my products. It keeps me in touch with my customers.

Wish List

Somethings on my list...

the logo, the site, the tree component and open source

I updated the header graphic if you couldn't tell. Wow, that's so exciting! Eh hem...

As of last week the site now contains ecommerce. Any products purchased on this site can be purchased and downloaded immediately. You can see a new link called, "my files" after logging in. That is what that is for.

Updates

I added subscription service to all the content on the site. If anyone adds a new comment to subscribed content an email will be sent out to the subscriber.

I am about to put up the Layout Merger. I finished a demo video. I found that XviD and WMV9 for AVI files have the smallest file sizes I've ever seen (2MB). But even though XviD quality is good the image has a dark shade to it. None of the settings are understandable so I couldn't find a way to fix it . WMV9 has a smaller file size and is brighter but any text on the screen becomes too pixelated. QuickTime MPEG-4 had excellent quality but was about 30MB in size. Others codecs were the same or more but less quality. I considered DivxPro but couldn't try it because it required a license.

Site is updated

Well, the site has been updated. Can you see all the changes? Of course not. There aren't visual changes. But from now on if you are a user you can upload and include images in your posts. You can also edit your own posts in the future. Until now you could only edit them within an hour after you posted them.

Update Soon

I'm going to update this site this weekend or next. I am adding image upload capabilities, image manipulation and personal image galleries. I am also adding the ability for users to edit their own posts. This was something I've wanted to do for a while.
